The big event was held May 9 at the FCCJ North Campus in Jacksonville. It was the culmination of months of training for hundreds of girls from throughout Northeast Florida, and for their running buddies and coaches. The New Balance Girls on the Run 5K featured a double loop around the FCCJ North campus on a beautiful Saturday morning. No city streets or campus roads were used for the course, which ended on a grassy field adjacent to the softball field. The New Balance Girls on the Run 5K (3.1 mile) event is a non-competitive family-friendly run/walk and festival where everyone is #1! Friends and family members who wanted to run with the girls, registered as "Running Buddies." All proceeds from the New Balance GOTR 5K will benefit young girls who may need financial assistance to participate in the GOTR NE Florida program, which educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
