Dogs make great running companions -- Runner's World says so!! You can have a loving companion to accompany you on your walk or run, and save a life in the process. (By the way, it's probably not a good idea for dogs to run in the summer heat, but autumn's coming soon! Be sure to build up your dog's speed and distance gradually, just as you would do yourself.)

Nassau Humane Society, or check for dogs available in your area. Also, if you'd like to join in the volunteer dog walks at the Humane Society, just come on over to the shelter across from the Fernandina Beach airport, 671 Airport Road, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and get to know some of these wonderful pets. Adopt a dog for a walking/running buddy and you'll make a friend for life!!
